Our target for this website, what we have actually tested, and what we know is still imperfect.

Our target

This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 level AA. That is the target for the product as well, and it is treated as a defect class rather than a backlog theme: an accessibility failure is a bug, not an enhancement request.

How this site was assessed

Last assessed , by the team that builds it. This was a self-assessment rather than an independent audit. We will say so on this page when that changes.

  • Colour contrast is verified automatically on every build. A test generates every foreground-against-surface pairing declared in the design tokens and recomputes the ratio, in both light and dark themes. The build fails if any text pair drops below 4.5:1 or any interface pair below 3:1. It is not a spot check against a hand-written list.
  • Keyboard operation of every interactive element, including the menu and theme toggle.
  • Visible focus on every focusable element, and a skip link that reaches the main landmark.
  • Landmark structure and heading order, with a unique accessible name per navigation region.
  • Reduced-motion preference honoured.
  • Rendering at 320px width and at 200% text zoom.

What helps by construction

This site ships almost no JavaScript. Every page is real HTML delivered by the server, so it works with scripting disabled, degrades predictably, and gives assistive technology a complete document rather than one assembled after load.

Known limitations

Stated because a conformance statement with no limitations section usually means nobody looked.

  • No independent audit. Everything above is self-assessed.
  • Screen-reader testing is not yet exhaustive. It has been checked with common pairings, but not across every browser and assistive-technology combination people actually use.
  • The diagrams are the weakest area. Each has a text alternative, but a complex figure described in a sentence is not equivalent to the figure. If one of them is not conveying its point to you, that is a defect and we want to know.
  • This statement covers this website only. The application is assessed separately and its statement is available on request.
